Grilled Chicken Wings with White BBQ Sauce | Low Carb | Keto

These grilled Chicken Wings with White BBQ Sauce are a summer time favorite. The white BBQ sauce is not like most traditional barbecue sauces that we are more familiar with. It is a northern Alabama specialty, it is typically a mayonnaise-based sauce, made tangy with the addition of vinegar. It is the prefect compliment with grilled chicken wings.The grilled chicken wings are filled with flavor and are super easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. Slow cook these wings on the grill to make them perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.


If you are looking for a change from a tomato based BBQ sauce, this is it! And it's low carb and keto friendly!

Grilled Chicken Wings

Recipe adapted from Grillin' Fools (I used his chicken recipe but found a different White BBQ Sauce that I like better. Recipe follows)


Ingredients:

Dry Rub Ingredients

18-24 fresh chicken wings and/or sections

2 tbsp Ancho chile powder

2 tbsp sweet paprika (use spicy variety for more kick)

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cayenne pepper

3-4 tsp olive oil


Directions for Chicken:


1. In a bowl, combine the dry rub ingredients.

2. Place the chicken in a large pan, drizzle and coat the wings olive oil. Sprinkle the dry rub over the wings and toss until coated well.

3. Preheat your outdoor grill to a medium high heat, and brush the grate with oil. Place the wings on the grill and cook for 5 minutes, turn the wings over to the other side. Turn heat down to 275 degrees. Continue to cook, turning the wings occasionally, for about 20-30 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.


White BBQ Sauce:


The BBQ White Sauce that I like with these wings is adapted from MyRecipes


Ingredients:


1 cup mayonnaise

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp. prepared horseradish (can leave out if you don't like horseradish)

1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon hot sauce


Directions for White BBQ Sauce:


Stir together mayonnaise, vinegar, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and hot sauce in a small bowl. Serve immediately or chilled. Refrigerate up to 3 days.
